Carmela Ben Dov was born in Israel on April 21st, 1926, to Atara and Israel Yardeni, Lehi fighters whose home was used as a hideout for fighters and from which Lehi activists left to hang posters. Her parents were among the first settlers in the Sharon area, in an area that would later become Ra’anana. Their family had nine brothers and sisters and fostered patriotic beliefs.
In 1943, she joined the Lehi underground and together with her brother assisted her parents in their operations. She worked in Ra’anana and Tel Aviv in the Information Division.
In 1947, Carmela married Baruch Ben Dov “Assaf”, a Lehi member who hid for a while at her parents’ home, after his escape from Latrun. The couple had two children Oded-Yosef and Noa and grandchildren.
Carmela died on Sunday, December 6th, 2002, and was laid to rest next to her husband at Yarkon cemetery in Petah Tikva in the Lehi section.
