Zvi  son of Avraham and Chava was born on July 9, 1919  in Lodz  Poland. His parents were orthodox and radically anti-Zionist in outlook. They objected to his Zionist activities and disowned him when as a youngster he joined Beitar. They refused to sign the official document he needed enabling him to make aliya.  Consequently, he ran away from home, entered Romania illegally and joined the Chernovitz branch of Beitar. He became its group leader, and instructed youths in face to face combat. In 1938 he met his future wife, Rachel Nitzkanski, born  1920 in Kishiniev, and  herself a  Chernovitz Beitar member. That year, he made aliya illegally, with a Beitar youth group belonging to the  illegal “Af-Al-Pi” Clandestine Aliya Movement. Upon arrival he joined the Rishon-Lezion Beitar group and later Etzel, participating in numerous operations. When Etzel split, he joined Lehi. In 1940 he married Rachel, who had arrived at the end of 1939 aboard the clandestine-immigration ship ‘Noami Julia’. They made their home in Rishon-Lezion where he was employed at a local brewery. They maintained an open house for all Lehi members. He continued to be active in the underground until arrested by the British CID during one of the underground’s operations. Imprisoned at Mizra and at Latrun detention  camps, Zvi managed to escape but was discovered (probably thanks to an informer), hiding at his wife’s Tel-Aviv apartment. He was jailed for about a year at Akko Prison. There he developed a kidney infection, but the prison authorities would not give him medical treatment. His condition worsened seriously and he became blind. Only then was he finally transferred to Hadassah Hospital Tel Aviv. He remained hospitalized  two months and died. He passed away on the December 3, 1944 and was buried at Nachalat-Yitzhak.
