Avigdor Gelbetz was born on the 30^th of April, 1924 and made aliya in 1929.

In August 1946, he joined the Operations Division of the Lehi underground in Haifa under the command of Israel Tvua “Ezra”.

After the independence of Israel, he enlisted to the IDF with additional Lehi members on May 29, 1948 and joined the 8^th Brigade, Battalion 89. He was one of the commanders of the divisions in the 1st Squad in the 89th Battalion under Ya’akov Gren’k “Dov” and participated in battles at Beit Gubrin and Al-Dawayima.

He married Zehava.

Avigdor died on April 23^rd, 1987 and was laid to rest at Sdeh Yehoshua Cemetery in Haifa.
