Yeshayahu was born June 3,1926 in Gaza City, to  Zehava and  Binyamin, a doctor who looked after local patients, mostly Arabs, since only 14 Jewish families lived there. During the 1929 Riots, the Jews escaped Gaza just before being slaughtered, and transfered to Tel-Aviv. Afterwards the family moved to Metula, Ramat-Gan, eventually settling in Netanya. In all these places his father served as medical doctor. Dr Bekman was an Etzel member, and  imprisoned for it. Because the family moved a lot, Yeshayahu’s studies were not continuous. Sent to study at a Ramat-Gan Boarding School, he escaped twice. In 1945 he studied at  Pitman School for Commerce Tel-Aviv two years. A talented student, with excellent memory, he read many books, acquiring a broad education. Shaikeh, as his friends called him, joined Etzel young, and after a while, moved to Lehi 1946. He was involved putting up info-bulletins, was sent on reconnaissance missions and surveillance, learnt weapons usage and participated laying road-mines against British vehicles, sabotaging military phone lines, etc. One day British Police came to his door, arrested and imprisoned him at Latrun  until  the start of British evacuation. Transferred with the other prisoners to  Atlit Camp, he was released close to the Declaration of Independence.  After establishment of the IDF he joined the 8^th Brigade, 82^nd Battalion, and fought in all its battles; he was injured twice. After the war he joined a Lehi nucleus which established Kibbutz Neveh-Yair in the western Negev. Yeshayahu became a dedicated farmer working the land. Unsupported, the Kibbutz disintegrated. After various attempts he became a successful fisherman, after obtaining a fishing boat. He finally became a  successful clerk at Income Tax. Yeshayahu participated in the Sinai Campaign as a reservist. At the outskirts of Gaza, with two friends he went to rescue an injured man out in a field. They stepped on a mine and all three were killed. Thus, by  design of fate,  Shaikeh’s life ended  in his natal city of  Gaza, on November 3,1956, aged only 30. He was brought to rest in the military section of Netanya Cemetery.
